What is the action of metabolism of bile salt as an inhibiting substance in tcbs agar?

why is it that the bile salt has the capability to inhibit other organisms other than vibrio cholera?..could you please explain it directly to the point.. ;)

  1. To my recollection, bile salts inhibit the Gram-positive Enterobacteriaceae group.

    If my memory is correct, Vibrio cholerae tends to line the entire intestinal mucosa. Bile salts have no effect on inhibiting their establishment in the human intestine. These salts do play a role in preventing other bacteria from colonizing the intestine.
