  1. That's what the call them: double necks.

If you can play a guitar with one neck, you can play one with two.  You don't use them both at the same time. You only play them one at a time.  The second neck is usually a 12-string, but occasionally something else.  I've seen one that was two bass necks, one fretted and one fretless.  John Paul Jones of Led Zeppelin had one with three necks: a 6-string, a 12-string, and a mandolin neck.  Steve Vai has a 3-neck shaped like a heart, with the 3rd neck coming out the other side and played left-handed.

  2. It is either a double neck or a tandem neck.

  3. Backbreaker

  4. Alex Lifeson of Rush plays a Rickenbacker...normal neck and 12 string.

  5. The actual name is just that....double-neck or multiple-neck is they have 3 or more necks.

Their is no difference with regular guitars and double neck. The Top neck is usually always a 12-string and the bottom, a 6-string as inthe case of Led Zep and others.

The weight is the initial difference but not the playability.
