  1. Secretly - it is of course dangerous to tell you this - it's to allow vast numbers of Shropshiremen to infiltrate and subvert Worcestershire. It's the inevitable result of the envy of the minor countyman in the face of a great cricketing neighbour.

  2. It is to remind people of what railways were like before they got screwed up by privatisation, an act of political dogma by the John Major government.

  3. To make people happy.

It works.  It is the most successful preserved railway in the UK.  The people who volunteer their services for free enjoy it, as do the thousands and thousands of visitors and passengers.

It's one of the small havens of old fashioned charm we still have in the UK, well away from the modern hurley burley and technocrap.

If you don't like it - stay away.

  4. The purpose of the Severn Valley railway, simply is 1 to make enough money to keep its self running, and 2 its also a working museum ... as someone has already answered, too keep the future generations what the past was like,

oh and it wasnt John Majors government, though it was a tory idea to privatise the railways, among other things, to get all of the income out of them then sell them off when they cant get anymore.

  5. So we can all go on the Santa Express....

  6. It is for grown men to play trains on.

It is bloody good fun actually.

  7. its a working museum, its keeping steam engines running. its also a great place to take your kids to have a ride on a real old steam engine.

  8. It exists purely to do your head in.

  9. The severn valley railway is run by volenteers. the purpose of it is for rail enthusiasts.they have steam and diesel days.

  10. to transport goods and/or passengers from one place to another.
