So I've heard all this hype about it, but no article states what the limit actually is. How much rice can I buy or am I limited to? One bag? A scoopful?

  1. 4 bags, but i mean c'mon isn't that more than enough for each family.

It is true, its all about marketing

  2. depends where you live. California - 10 lbs

  4. like 4 bags

  5. Is this a joke?  Why would you be limited as to how much rice you can buy? Do you need an exorbitant amount?

I bet if you're looking for like 500lbs or something, you'll be capped off.

  6. huh

  7. 3847837483748374837 grams

  8. it is four bags but all it is is a marketing ploy. there is no food shortage in the USA. The marketing is to bring in customers to the Costcos and Sams....Notice that they havent raised the prices to the rice.

  9. The store will limit customers to four 20-lb. bags of jasmine, basmati and long-grain white rice, the company said in a statement. The restriction is not based on a shortage of rice, but on an inevitable increase in cost.

  10. 4 bags

  11. Sam's Club -  limit customers to four bags 20 lb bags long-grain white rice

  12. No limit i guess the whole inventory. its all rumor

  13. O RRY? ^(@o@)^

  14. The limits affect 20-pound bags,

Sam’s Club said it will limit customers to four bags at a time of imported jasmine, basmati and long grain white rice.

Sam’s Club followed Seattle-based Costco Wholesale Corp., which put limits in at least some stores on bulk rice purchases.

USA Rice Federation spokesman David Coia said there is no rice shortage in the United States.

“It’s possible that small restaurants and bodega-type neighborhood stores may be purchasing rice in larger quantities than they do typically to avoid higher prices,” Coia said about the warehouse chain restrictions.

The warehouse chain caters heavily to small businesses, including restaurants. Sam’s Club spokeswoman Kristy Reed said she could not comment on whether the problem was caused by short supplies or by customers stocking up in anticipation of higher prices.

At Bangkok Center Grocery, one of the main suppliers of Thai food products in New York City, manager Tom Pongsopon said the price of a 25-pound bag of Jasmine rice at his Chinatown store has gone up from $15 to $20 in a matter of months.

  15. Sam's Club (And Cost Co.) is a store where you go to buy BUTT LOADS of goods...

If you run a restaurant and serve lots of rice or pasta or canned cheese sauce... They will not tell you that you can "Only buy 4 cans of nasty fake cheese.”

It is all a marketing ploy to be able to boost the price of goods.

Tell people that they are limited to “Three Bags Each” or whatever will just cause a panic in the minds of the stupid so they rush to store to make sure that they get their “three bags” or whatever before they “RUN OUT!” *GASP*!

The US grows LOTS of rice… There may not be as much as there “usually is” but in the US there is not a food shortage…

Though it might do us all a bit of good to see what it is like in most of the world where having ANY food is a blessing… Let alone being able to eat anything and everything flown in fresh from any part of the world… I’m guessing that all those Anti-GM Greenpeace nut-jobs would change their tune if THEY were the ones that were starving!
