What is the advantages of agar slant, agar plate??

An agar plate allows you to grow individual colonies of bacteria which can be helpful when you want to isolate a single type of bacteria or a single clone. A liquid culture allows for rapid and large volume growth. An agar slant is essentially a storage place for your bacteria. (Although I personally prefer to store my bacteria in glycerol stocks at -80oC.)

Agar plate is for isolation of bacteria and fungi. A solid surface makes it easy for bacteria to grow into single colonies. Agar slant is for preserving cultures of bacteria. With s***w cap tubes, the agar does not dry up easily. The tubes take very small storage space.
