I'm going to Paris with the school soon. I'm 14 and some of us are having a party and want some alcohol. Will we be able to purchase any?

P.S: If I can't buy it there, is it illegal to take it over the boreder to france from britain with you?

  1. Well? The legal drinking age in France is 16. However, in Paris, as well as most European countries, legal stipulations placed on the purchase and consumption of alcohol are merely technicalities to which almost no one adheres. No matter what country you visit in Europe, you will find very little?if any?enforcement of the legal drinking age. If you will have underage teenagers with you who would like to enjoy an alcoholic beverage, they will have no trouble ordering or being served in Paris, so you might want to give consideration to this issue prior to embarking on your trip. Requesting ID is virtually unheard of in Paris, as well as most European cities, because they simply do not have the problems related to underage drinking that are common in North American countries. Wine with dinner is a common custom in which most Parisians engage from the time they are toddlers, and most Europeans drink for enjoyment?not to get drunk. Therefore, unlike in North America, drinking is somewhat of a non issue for most Europeans and lacking in justification for strict enforcement.

  2. 18

  3. when i was in germany it was 16 years old and i think its the same for paris as well.

  4. There is no limit...you can drink it for however long you want. There is a minimum drinking age of 16 however.

  5. Michael V is right.  Europe is much more civilized than the US and it's great to hang out and not see anyone proofed or hassled for drinking.  You shouldn't use the term "underage" without quotes though, Mike--do you really think someone who's 18-20 and perfectly OK to go die in Iraq is "underage" to drink?????

  6. let me give u an advice from some one how watches Dr Phil and iam 19 and i am telling u if u drink alcohol then u are going to be a guest on this show and u are going to go to a hospital .also , i am not trying to make u scared but iam telling u that u are so young to drink and if ur parent knew that u drink they will never trust u . so plez be carefull and don't drink u are 14.

  7. Having been in Paris back in 1992, the answer is simple unless they changed the law.

14 legal age to drink wine.

16 legal age to drink beer

18 legal age to drink hard liquor

Have a hoot but beware, those Parisians are rude, their national sport is arguing all the time.

Another useful tip, do not get your cup of coffee on a patio, the more the garçon walks, the more it will cost you.
