  1. My bank let me do it at 16

  2. 18 years old.

  3. It depends on the bank.  To be on an account by yourself you need to be 18, but you can have a checking account at 16 if you have a legal adult on it with you.  My daughter is 16 and I am a co owner of her account at Bank of America.
