  1. 16 is the age when you can crash away.

  2. you can apply for a learners permit if your with a driving school, the test is a joke really mainly common sense but get the book and read it over a few times, you need to have that 8-12 months for a probationary licence and than you need 2 years experiance or to be 25 to have a regular licence

  3. 16.  You have to get a learner's permit first, and drive *accompanied* by someone with a license anytime you're behind the wheel, and that is for one year.  Then you go for a test.  If you take lessons, though, the time is shorter, and you will be a much better driver, anyway.  Avoid 'taking lessons' from a parent or friend, they are not 'experts', and often make mistakes.

  4. You'll have to get your lerner's permit first, by doing a test electronically. But you have to schedule a time, and there are only a couple of places where you can do this in Montreal. After that you can take the driving test in eight months of you take driving lessons, or a year if you don't.
