What is the amortized cost a large company like Google, or Yahoo has to pay per GB of data transmission?

I don't need exact numbers, but I'm curious if anyone has a ballpark estimate.

  1. Seeing how google owns a lot of the US fiber and the fact that they use fathoms of it, my best guess would be $.001/ per GB


  2. If you mean actual payment, it's about zero.  If you mean cost of total infrastructure, including salaries, medical, taxes, etc., you can calculate total cost from public data and estimate total byte count.
