That is the basic definition of humidity.

The temperature of the air also determines how much water the air will hold. That is what the dew point is.

When the air begins to cool at night it loses its ability to hold water. The point where the water condenses on to surfaces is the dew point.

This is one reason why air indoors in cold winter homes can be dryer than air in a hot desert. The snowy cold air outside has lost most of its humidity because of the cold. Then it is sucked in doors and heated up by a wood stove. The air is now super dry.

That is why a pot of water is left on top of a wood stove, and also why your lips are so dry in the winter.

now climate change and desertification because of irresponsible agriculture ,overgrazing and deforrestation is damaging world fresh water production .

it is a good reason for concern and if we do not rectify matters by changing agricultural methods ,reforrest ,stop deforrestation,become more economic with water use ,stop producing more people ,stop wasting and contaminating water, we will be in serious trouble all round

and could end up looking like Mars
