Question:

What is the annual cost of a waverunner?

I want to buy a Sea-Doo waverunner, but am curious from people WITH EXPERIENCE what the typical annual cost is of it, thinking of services, gas, etc. I am only on the lake for about 2-3 weeks a year, and would probably be on it for a little while most days. I also could probably store it at my cabin at the lake, so would not need to pay for storage. How often should they be service and what is the cost of that typically? Any annual costs you can think of for the maintenance of a Sea-Doo would be appreciated. Not counting the cost of the actual purchase, of course. Thank you! and please don't respond just go get "points"...I am looking for real info here.

  1. New (2006+) Sea-Doos have the best gas efficiency, which is still terrible.

    I have a 3-person which costs about $15/20-30 minutes.

The downside to newer sea-doos is that they are all 4-stroke, and harder to repair. I'm not sure about the cost for yearly marina repair, but about once a year I need to replace "Spark Plugs" on my jetskis. This newer sea-do (2007) is way to hard for me to repair.

Things go wrong. They always do, I have 5 jetskis. Ropes get run over, things break non-stop after about 5 years. Most repair is basic - but you def. need a trailer and someone with basic engine knowledge. Usually it's just tighening random parts, etc. Newer jetskis are built much better so fewer parts come loose.

I usually have a repair man come to my house once a year to fix all the jetskis' issues. Again, the newer jetski rarely has problems, but it costs me about $300/year just to repair these.

Gas depends on how much you use them obviously.
