6x - 2y = 14

Multiply the first equation by -3 to eliminate the x

-6x -15y = -27

6x - 2y = 14

-17y = -13

y = 13 / 17

Substitute this value of y to the 1st equation...

2x +5(13/17) = 9

2x +(65/17) = 9

2x = 9 -(65/17)

2x = 88 / 17

x = (88/17) / 2

x = 88 / 34

x = 44 / 17
