  1. ya shes right A is the answer

  2. it's A.

because it's like a pause in the sentence, and you're adding details.  and since it is in present tense, A would only make sense. the others are all past.

  3. B does not make sense with the comma placement...

  4. hey you are confusing me okay stop asking this kinda questions..

  5. Trick Question!

What English country or cordinance are you in?

How would have your character say it?

  6. Actually, "as he set sail from the south....." would be the best.  Is this a question from a test and one of them is actually right?

  7. (c)

  8. A.

Whenever i get questions like this i read them all aloud to myself and pick which one i would normally say. Not what i think my teacher would say. It's usually right.

  9. a setting sail, because you are telling how he attempted to prove his theory. the others are past tense and you need present tense

  10. A is correct.

  11. The answer is "He Set Sail" because there is a comma after dr. murphy.

A is definitely wrong. Setting sail is doing two things at the same time

B who set sail??? it could be the speaker

C had set sail - no need comma

D is the correct answer HE denotes emphasis on who attempted what

  12. I think the answer is C. had set sail b/c "attempted" is past tense and "had" is also past tense so when you say "Dr. Murphy, had set sail", it's telling you that he already done it. It's describing what he had done. Did that make sense to you?

    gee...I hope it's right.

  13. the answer is A, trust me.

  14. "A"   "setting sail" is part of a dependent clause.

When you say the sentence out loud, the "A" version makes the most sense and sounds the best.

  15. A. is right.

  16. its definately A

  17. I am pretty sure that it is (A)setting sail.  It's that answer because none of the others fit well.  (C) and (D) just don't make sense.  I thought it was (B) at first but it doesn't fit with the rest of the sentence.  (A) is probably right.  If it is wrong, e-mail me a big nasty letter.

  18. B

  19. A is correct because by sailing, he attempted to do something.

  20. A) Setting sail

B and C couldn't be used with the comma after Dr. Murphy staying intact, and D could not be used unless you were speaking in super long telegraph style or something. Sorry this wasn't more technical. :)

  21. A. its the correct tense.

  22. A, because it is in the present tense, like the rest of the sentence.

  23. B. its in the past tense
