  1. The way to simplify things like that is first to distribute, then add like terms.

    Distributing the first becomes

    (7-2.1x)3 = 7*3-2.1x*3 = 21-6.3x

You can also do the second one yourself!

Lastly combine the two x terms, and then combine the two number terms to get your result!

  2. Use the distributive property:

    (7 - 2.1x)3 + 2(3.5x - 6) = 21 - 6.3x + 7x - 12

    Then add like terms:

    21 - 6.3x + 7x - 12 = (7x - 6.3x) + (21 - 12) = 0.7x + 9

  3. distribute both sides

    so

21-6.3x + 7x-12 then to simplify even more you have to combine like terms

    9+ .7x

  4. x= 2.48 (rounded)
