  1. I would say between 3 1/2 and 4 years of age some children mature faster and you should know if your child(ren) will be ready by how well then can listen and follow directions...if they are a "late bloomer" then most people don't even bother with preschool they just wait till kindergarten. Either way your child should not be much farther ahead by going to preschool or not... just teach them about colors, numbers, shapes and letters before they start kindergarten and they will be fine. I hope this was some help for you.

  2. 3 year old

  3. For public preschool I would say 4. And alot of the ones here don't accept them till they are 4. But many are taking charge and teaching their children earlier. Wanna check us out?

  4. It depends on what exactly you are looking for and what the needs of the child are.  Some child care centers have preschool within the child care.  They can take children 2-5 years of age, and provide preschool with a nap.  This can be great for early socialization.  Children can learn many things through play with peers, and some children are ready for this at a young age.  Children also do not need to be potty trained to start.  If you are looking for a traditional preschool program, then those usually start around 3 years of age and children must be potty trained to attend.  Preschool is becoming more and more necessary with the demands that kindergarten is putting on children.

  5. I was a 3 year old teacher for one year before becoming a 4/5 year old teacher, and the few children who were in my class who had never been away from mom, had a very hard time adjusting to the new school environment. They were sad a lot and didn't know how to play like the children who had been in day care since 1 or 2 years old. I think if you can afford it, send your child to preschool for 2-3 mornings a week when they are 1-2 so they can learn to socialize. As they get older you can add to that time. I think by the time they are three years old, it will be helpful if they were in preschool 3-5 mornings per week at least. Don't send your child to school for 10-11 hours per day- it's too much. But preschool is really good for kids. It helps them learn to: socialize, share, learn academics, self-help skills (go potty by themselves, get dressed by themselves), etc. Hope this helps :)

  6. I'd say age "four" because they're more mature & Kindergarten is only a year away.

  7. The appropriate age for preschool is 21/2-3 years.

  8. It really depends on the family and child.

I usually recommend a 3 year old program which is usually less hours and days a week. And then the next year a preK program.  However, if your child has no problems with being separated from you (or main caregiver), is typically developing, has many an opportunity to play with peers (besides siblings and first cousins) then 1 year prior to Kindergarten is acceptable.

Good luck in your decision making.

  9. My mom is a preschool teacher. It depends if you're talking about preschool or pre-kindergarten. And it depends on how mature your child is. Definately don't start your child in preschool when he/she is 2. That's way too young. I'd start them in preschool when they're going to turn 4 in the second half of the year or in the following June and July. If they just turned three (or going to) that year, DO NOT put them in preschool. Wait another year. After Preschool, there's pre-kindergarten. After pre-kindergarten, there's kindergarten.

  10. It depends on you and your child.  My oldest was 4, but we had a lot of time to work with hom and he is naturally a higher thinker.  My other two started at 2 since the pre school had a 2 yr old program one time a week, then the went to 2 times a week at 3, then finally 3 times a week at age 4.  The kids loved it.  At two it is more about ply time and socializing in a structured environment, that made it easy for the start of 3's since they were familiar with the school and were able to transition nicely into a routine and academics.  Go with your gut all children are ready if you are ready to let them go:O)

  11. I think no earlier than 4 and make sure they get to spend time with other people besides mommy before they go because it makes it hard on them to separate from you. Believe me I know this for a fact. My daughter just started pre-k and it has been terrible with all the tears.

  12. 3- 3 and half years.... is the appropriate age for preschool.....

  13. 2-3

  14. Most take children from 2-2.6yrs which i think is fine maybe 3 times a week if you feel your child is ready. However I'd say age 3 and 3+ days a week is suitable. They are ready for new relationships, experiences and the learning. Pre-school is half day so its not too long that you miss out on time with your child and will get them into the routine of being away from home.

  15. 3 or 4

public schools and districts generally only take 4's because space is limited. It should be on a voluntary basis.
