  1. Depends entirely on where you are travelling too and from, the greater the journey the higher the price.

  2. I don't think that it is possible to buy a ticket that takes you anywhere, anytime.

You have to specify a journey and then you can buy a season ticket for that journey on a regular basis. For example if you worked in Bristol and traveled from Cardiff every day, then you could buy a season ticket for that journey.

    Sorry.

  3. Where to and where from?

  4. there is no approx price for season tickets as you have so many factors to consider with tickets, whether you have 1st or standard travelling from which station to which station,if its only going locally some tickets can cost under £1000, heading in to London from further a field can go be as high as £6K or more per year, so we cannot say 1 price or round about sorry.

Best thing is if you know between which station you need to be travelling from, go into any mainline station, go into the ticket office and enquire, the longer your ticket is valid the cheaper the journey price becomes, tickets can be purchased, daily, weekly, monthly, 6 monthly and yearly.

  5. in search type rail fares         from the list about fifth down

    National rail enq' click

  6. It is quite impossible to answer this question without knowing the journey you wish to make. People do like to help here, but really questioners have to show a littlle more thought and give full details.

If you mean a season ticket covering every station and every line, no such thing exists (and I shudder to think of the price if it did!)

It is also extremely difficult to get a quote for an annual season ticket for a  specific journey, unless you are fortunate enough to find someone who does the journey in question. Getting season ticket quotes normally requires one to log into a particular company's website. The usual on line journey planning sites don't deal in season tickets. You would be far better therefore in going direct to the company site yourself.

  7. Between? It all depends how long the journey is.

I think the shortest journey for which it is possible to buy a season ticket is between Ryde Pier Head and Ryde Esplanade, on the Isle of Wight - a 12 month ticket (standard class) costs £196.

I think the longest journey it is possible to buy a season ticket is roughly that from Newcastle upon Tyne to London - standard class £14,320, first class £24,344. If you want to travel any further, it is cheaper to buy a series of All-Line Rail Rovers - a 14-day all-line Rover costs £565 standard class, £860 first class, so 24 2nd class rovers would cost £13,560 over the year, and 24 1st class would be £20,640.

Later edit: Rdenig_male is quite wrong about it being difficult to get quotes for season tickets without knowing someone who has one - the National Rail site linked below will give you a price for a season ticket for any period between 7 days and 1 year. Not all journeys can have season tickets, but for any where it is possible, the price is there.
