  1. Well it all depends...I think the least amount of time that a Unit, not a individual Soldiers has between deployments if one year...I have know Soldiers who were deployed, left that Unit, went to another and was deployed again. This has not happened to anyone I know during this war. It did happend to me in 96...I was in Korea for a year, moved to Ft Bliss and with in two weeks of getting there was deployed to Haiti...deployments for the "Surge" were 15 months, but yesterday they were shortened to one year...for your cousin the next step is his Officer's Basic Course in the Branch that the Army chose for him...what deployments are like depends on the Soldier's MOS and that type of Unit they are in...if he is in the Infantry it will be a lot of patroling and killing of the enemy...if he is Medical, it will be just like being in a regular Hospital...hope this helps...

  2. Your cousin will graduate and go to either Fort Benning, GA or Fort Sill, OK for 7 weeks for Basic Officer Leadership Course II (BOLC II). After that, he/she will start BOLC III for the branch he/she was selected for. Each branch's BOLC III varies in time.

If he branched Infantry, he will complete Infantry BOLC III and Ranger School then move to his unit to become a Platoon Leader. BOLC III and Ranger take about 6-9 months. What he does after he arrives at his unit depends on his unit. His unit may be gearing up to deploy or may have just gotten back.

If he/she branched Aviation, they will complete BOLC III (i.e. Flight School) which will take between 18 months and 24 months. Then they'll move to their unit to take a Platoon Leader position and same as above...

Those are the 2 branches I am most familiar of as far as length of training time for BOLC II and BOLC III.

But the typical deployment now is usually 12 months. They should get 12 months away from deployment before they are rotated back into combat. But it's the Army and if they need ya somewhere, you've got to follow orders.

  3. Deployments are usually a year. They may get a temporary duty station for a couple months mostly for schooling..However if they are actually deployed (not just stationed somewhere) once they get back they have a year before they are deployable again.Which means they can be sent to another station or post, just not to iraq, afghanistan, korea, etc. Deployments really depend on where you are...and your job. However you do normally get to take leave during your deployment for i believe 2 weeks.

  4. 12-18 months but most now a days are 12-15. deployments are long and hard.this is my bfs typical day. he gets up at 5 am for pt and formation gets out of that at about 6:30 and then he has 2.5 hours to take a shower, get ready for work, eat breakfast and call me and then he works from 9- till whenever sometimes it is 5 sometimes it is 7 and sometimes it is 10pm it depends how much work he has to do.then hes off an hour and then he has a meeting and then he is fre till the next morning.he works 6 days a week and every 4th sunday.he is a mechanic and works in a hangar with no ac all day.thats basically all i know.

  5. As long as Bush wants it to be. As long as the so called "War on Terror" , which is for hype only, lasts, there will be no let up to re-deployments. The reason the US disbanded the Iraqi army was to create an unlimited supply of insurgents to make sure the war does not end. This is the tragedy of having an economy built on suppying the war machine and making the few filthy rich at the expense of the military and the taxpayer. Think about it!!!
