  1. starch= نشا (nasha)

  2. ive never used powder starch.. are you talking about the kind you put into the wash?... You know.. all the cleaning products they sell here have english/arabic on the boxes.. surely you could find something in the laundry section of a grocer if they do sell it..

    they might have something here

called Faultless Starch by Bon Ami (brand)

its the powder you add to wash

also heres a homemade recipe my gran used to use

    Laundry Starch Recipes

Dissolve 1 tablespoon cornstarch in 1 pint cold water in pump spray bottle. Shake before using.

Use a steam iron instead of a dry iron.

Add ½ teaspoon vinegar to water in steam iron.

  3. well "starch" in arabic is called "Nisha"....wither it's corn starch or spray starch for clothes....i never knew there was a special kind of powder starch for clothes....but you usually find laundry stuff in a designated aisle in supermarkets...if you can't find it in one supermarket i suggest you try other stores (i had this problem in the eastern province...for some reason thier supermarkets have a serious problem). small "biqalas" has the basic stuff only...detergents, bleach and maybe fabric softners...but they never fail to amaze me cause i usually end up finding some neat stuff there that i have forgotten about or never thought existed ;) so never rule them out...and browse them once in a while just for the heck of it....another great place for home made stuff is the "attar" shops...they sell spices and oils and usually have great tips and recipies for all sorts of stuff...from polishing antiques, removing stains to clearing skin from acne and dandruff from your hair...who knows you may find your "starch" there..the really good (approved and liscenced) have also herbal remedies (alternative medicine) that are safe and checked by the ministry of health so just make sure you're dealing with the real stuff and not a hoax...sorry i couldn't be much help..good luck
