What is the argument against domestic drilling?

What is the Democrats' argument against domestic drilling for oil and is it a valid argument? If not, why are they against domestic drilling and are you?

The Saudis gave Clinton $10 mil for his library and plenty more for "giving speeches."

The arguments are several, one is that in the time it would take us to get domestic oil out of the ground and to the pump we could have invested in alternative energy sources. The issue is also trust. Most of us do not trust the logic of oil executives that are telling us to drill for  more oil. This would be a very expensive venture and the tax payers would wind up paying most of the bill, however, the oil companies would make even more money than they are already. Last, even if we did drill doestically, we have no addtitional refinery capacity to make the oil usable to AMerican citizens.

I am ALL FOR DRILLING!!!!!   I believe the Democrats do not want it, they want to bring this Country to its' knees and make it so expensive we have zero choice but to be weened off oil.

THE PROBLEM IS the alternatives will be a LONG TIME COMING.  20 to 30 years??  I also believe these Politicians are profiting financially BIG TIME from Gore's Global Warming rhetoric.  I say OUST ALL THESE POLITICIANS.  And perhaps people should realize that almost 40% of the amount this Country spends on oil GOES TO OUR ENEMIES.  Why not have that 40% stay in our own Country........$700 billion dollars a year folks.  That would be a wonderful boost to our economy.

We will need oil for a long time coming since the Democrats have ALSO put up so many barriers for alternatives to even be viable across the country.  WAKE UP
