What is the average charge to the hospital in an ambulance?

My mom is a bit stupid and probably overreacted for attention or something... I don't know, shes Asian and just doesn't quite get things.

Anyway, so they took her in an ambulance to the so called hospital (I would NEVER call it that because it SUCKS) just for lame minor food poisoning.

And that was two months ago and we got the bill today for

$377.50

Is that honestly how much hospitals charge?

This hospital seems like a gypsy place - I'd never go there if my life depended on it, I'd haul my *** 2 hours away to Saint Louis.

omg i live about 30km from the nearest hospital and the rate is €66! and the same for every night you spend in there.... i never knew it was so expensive!

The hospital doesn't charge the ambulance service - it's the ambulance company who does that. The amount is what is not covered by your mother's insurance if she has any.

YOU INSENSITIVE JERK this is your mother and she was sick. Food poisoning is no joke. See if you enjoy life double over puking your guts out and **** in your pants. It was better for her to endure an ambulance ride in her condition than have a relative or friend risk taking her and trying to pay attention to the road avoiding an accident.

If you're worried about the ambulance bill, wait til she gets the hospital ER visit.

okay..here is the run down on how we charge for ambulance service where i am..If your situation requires..

Advanced life support- the charge runs around $500.00 plus mileage.

Basic Life support- 250.00 plus mileage.

From what you say a/b your mom it was probably a basic life support transport..and honestly they probably didnt do more then give her a ride- although they could have given her oxygen and started an IV. It all depends on the Standing orders and medical control for the ems system where you live.

The 377.50 was probably for the Ambulance and not the hospital...

The hospital bill is not included with the ambulance bill and vice versa.

around here just the ride by ambulance is $600.  for a hospital visit, that sounds cheap.
