What is the average cost for a cracked foundation repair?

I just found out that there is an avertical crack in the rear foundation wall under the deck. I'm wondering what the costs are for repairing the crack.

That depends if you want to remove the source of the damage or just cover it up.  If all you want to do is cover it, you can do that easily yourself.  Fixing it would at least require a mason.

it will vary from company to company. Me and my husband run a masonry company, and honestly it costs waaaaaay less ( depending on the crack) to do it yourself. it really isn't too hard, your best bet is to buy materials and ask around for tips on doing it yourself (or e-mail me!) at a hardware store!! good luck!

Before you try to repair you need to know why a crack has appeared.

Are there any other cracks in the foundation? Is there any noticeable cracking of sheetrock over interior doors or widows? Are doors and windows suddenly hard to open or close?

You may need a thorough inspection of the foundation by a Structural Engineer. At the very least walk around the property, check doors and windows, they should be plumb and should open and close freely. Look for cracks in sheetrock or plaster over doors look over and under windows for cracks. Work your way around the inside of the crawlspace slowly, check for cracks in the foundation walls, look for displaced beams and supports, and look for sign of moisture intrusion.

You may just have a small vertical crack because of ground settlement or any number of reasons. But please find out why you have a crack, and make sure that there are not other larger issues. If in doubt about what you find contact a local Home Inspector to advise you about other steps to take.
