  1. You might want to check out these people: http://www.aava-communication.com/

While it is true that there are rules about getting married in France according to the laws of France (that is having a French Marriage) there is nothing to prevent you from having  a ceremony IN France after obtaining a license in your place of residence. You just won't be able to get a French government employee to do the honors so you'll need to bring your own minister.

  2. cost depends on your criterion, location is the first thing to book, a hotel or a country house have different rates, but count anything from 5000 euros to the sky is the limit

next important post on your budget is catering depends on menu, and quality of wine (cheaper for you to bring your own champagne but not always possible)

DJ (500 to 1500 euros), photographer(150 to 5000 euros), chauffeur (100 to 250 euros), wedding dress (150 euros to 20 000 euros or more)  and groom outfits, wedding bands (150 euros) are relatively low in costs

you could call a special events company or depending on your choice of location call the local tourism office who are usually rather resourceful and may recommend a few locations. the town hall has a few specs that need to be respected as pointed out by R above

You also need to include stay and travel as well as entertainment if you bring people from far away etc

  3. ...in France "they" don't get married...   they live with their boyfriends...   In Italy....   a few bottles of wine will do it...

  4. lake garda?

s***w there check out this website for the amalfi coast in italy... one of the most beautiful places on earth

  5. An American without legal residence in France can't be married there.  One must be in residence for more than 6 months in France to be married there and a US passport only permits one to stay for 90 days.  Also, all marriages in France are preformed by the town Mayor, and then a religious ceremony often follows several days/weeks later.
