and does a white filling need to be done privately or can it be done on the nhs?

  1. if you're over 19 and/or in full time education you won't have to pay for a filling, but a white one you will have to pay towards the cost but not the full price. The best thing is to ask your dentist and see if you can come to some sort of arrangement.

  3. cost me £55  last year to have one re-done. I think most surgeries class a white filling as "non-essential" so you don't get the NHS rate of £44, but it might not be much more, up to the individual dentist.

    Your NHS dentist will do you a white filling, but may charge the private rate, you don't need to go to a different dentist or anything.

  4. Cost me £70 9yrs ago, that was NHS rate as I was entilted to free dental care at the time.

  5. Depends where in the uk you are... it varies from about £50 - £150.  You won't get it free on the NHS, but your NHS dentist might do it for you (at a cost).
