  1. My understanding is if you go from Foster to Adopt it does not have to be expensive.  If you go to your local Department of Social Services they can point you in the right direction.  They pretty much help you with monthly expenses for the child and even help with insurance.  This info I know from the State of California... I don't know what it is like in other states... I do know that International Adoptions can be quite expensive which does not make any sense to me... these kids need a loving and secure home.  Good Luck!

  2. Well yes I know that some people who answered said that there is no cost on human life but adoption sadly has a business end to it. Ours cost close to 31,000 dollars( I don't recall if this included our homestudy and IT DID NOT cover hotel and travel expenses).

BUT aside from that the price truly is priceless!!!! My daughter is worth everything in the world!!!

Isabel is right though. In the triad there is a price that everyone pays that is not monatary. I tell my daughter all the time that her mom made the descion because she wanted the best for her, and not a day goes by that I don't think of the birthmom. The best gift she gave me was her daughter and there is no price on that.

    GOOD LUCK

  3. My vote for best answer goes to Adoptionissickandsad!!! She actually covers the cost to all THREE sides of the adoption triad, while the other responders only focus on the cost to the prospective adopters.

Oh...I know.  You all don't really want to know about the TRUE costs that adoptees and their first moms pay.  It's too "hard" to think about.  You'd rather believe that you're "rescuing" a child.  Much easier on the conscience.

    If I could...I give you 100 thumbs up, AIS&S!!

Oh...and extra thumbs up to tspjay, too!  Don't listen to the lemon head who got her panties in a wad for you speaking another truth.  The last time PPL paid for PPL, it was called slavery.  God forbid anyone mention history or connect the ridiculous amounts of $$ that change hands for this so called "loving option"!  Guess love isn't free after all...

  4. The fees to adopt our son were around $20000. That was about 10 months ago.

  5. Domestic adoption I understand is a bit "less costly" however, the waiting period can be long...unless you go through the foster system.

International Adoption generally runs about $22,000 + bc you have to pay for lodging, airfare, etc.

  6. Costs do vary but I think on average it costs the adoptee a complete sense of self and shatters the ability to love unconditionally, while depleting the stores of trust. It costs feeling acceptance, and having one's natural abilities and traits modeled.

For the mother of adoption loss it can cost her future fertility, confidence, self-esteem. Sometimes it costs her severe depression and lack of trust in others. There is a toll of resentment her family may bear for not helping her keep her baby.

For the adoptive parents, usually it's just a bunch of money. Oh and some paperwork.

  7. I think the first answer was uncalled for.  Regardless of whether someone should have read someone else's post, it's obvious that by posting the question they didn't.  Should they be reprimanded for that?  NO.  Whether you think the question is out of place or anything like that, I think it's a valid question.  Go to any of the other sections here and you'll see the same questions posted over and over without anyone belittling each other.

  8. if you go out of the country it can cost thousands. you can always do foster care.  there are thousands of children that need a home. especially the older kids.  if you go through foster care, you will actually get paid. and you will get free food coupons, and you will get a clothing allowance. its a great thing to do. it can be hard though. because a lot of children get sent back home with the birthparents that dont deserve to get the kids back. it can be really depressing.

  9. We will be paying a total of $20,000 for domestic infant adoption, which includes the price of a homestudy, but does not include court fees for finalization.

  10. I know this is legal but it just sounds like slavery when you speak of cost when referring to a human life.
