Water keeps seeping into our basement. Previously a yard line had broke and water poured into the basement causing carpet damage. We got that fixed. Yesterday, we received a hard downpour and water came into the basement again. This time, at the wall/floor join area. The people who replaced our yard line said that we had poor drainage around the front of our foundation and needed to fix it or water will seep through the walls or joins anyway.

I tried to solve the problem by putting down those plastic pipes and attaching them to the downspouts of our gutters and running it across the yard. Obviously, it doesn't hep with hard rain. This time, the water that came in wasn't bad at all, but it did soak up 4-5 towels.

What is the average cost of putting down one these drainage systems across the front of our foundation? Will it even work to stop the leaks?

  1. Water from outside your house has to run away from the building.

The soil/grade around the building should be pitched slightly away from building; poor drainage likely a landscape issue.

Furthermore water already in the ground needs good soil for drainage and will follow the path of least resistance. Your basement is the path of least resistance. For relief from poor soil and hydrostatic pressure install drainage system. NO average cost. This is a custom solution.

Find a qualified builder who understands soil content or basement drainage company.
