What is the average cost of unleaded petrol in New Zealand?

I will be traveling around New Zealand's South Island in May, 2008. I'm currently planning my road trip and need to know the cost of fuel. I know it's constantly changing but it will at least give me a relative estimate of what it will cost to fill-up the tank. Thank you in advance!

About $1.80 per litre for 91, and $1.85 for 96.  Most cars in NZ take 91. Prices are sky high and are at a record cost here right now.

If you're from the US, that equates to about $6.50per gallon!!!

Prices in the towns and cities are more or less the same as there is virtually no price competition as there is in other countries. Prices in remote locations may be slightly more.

$1.79 for a litre of 91 and $1.85 for a litre of 93 is about the current price.

Sometimes in the South Island it can be a bit more, particularly in remote places.
