  1. I used to live by my self in the area of mayaguez wich is one of the most important cities in Puerto Rico.

    This were my expenses...

one bed room apartment descen area $500

water bill $40 is clean water!!!!!

light bill (with air conditioning ) $90 dollars i only turn it on to sleep

gas----> you will need a car there is no public transportation system only in san juan and it dont work at night... PR Is one of the countries with more cars per capita car here are resonable in price. gas is $3.12 a gallon

food is a few cents more expensive than the us because remember this is an island and everything has to be bring by ship....

food mmm a fast food ill say are less expensive than the states some times....a movie ticket is between 5-7 dollars depending where you go....beer is cheap!!!! if you move to the san juan area you will be fine you will have a lot of thing to do!! a dinner is between 5-10 dollars in a normal place nothing fancy.....

  3. I am from Puerto Rico, and right now I can tell you that the southern part like Ponce is super hot you are better off living in the central or central to east coast if you don't want to live in San Juan. I am from Caguas, the cost of moving will depend on  how much stuff you absolutely have to bring.  The cost of living will depend on your lifestile and your income.  You could rent an appartment or a house for $400 to $800 it all depends on location and the size but imagine you are in Miami florida and that inflation makes everything go up but salaries and that is how it is down there.

If you have no debt and you are a professional then you will be ok if you are not a professional then you will have to live on a budget, you will absolutely need a car/truck so try to invest in one when you get there.

Check out www.clasificadosonline.com there you will find places to rent and job openings also you can go to www.craigslist.org also for rentals and other stuff.

    Good Luck!

  4. Puerto Rico is a very beautiful place. However jobs are very hard to come by, believe me, this is why about half of the puertorican population doesn't live in PR. Do you speak spanish? Many people speak english but spanish is the primary language & you will need it. The cost of living in PR is cheaper in the small towns , than San Juan. SJ has comparible prices to any major US city.  PR is Not very cheap b/c it is a US commonwealth. If you have a business you can do from home or if you are retiring or bringing a lot of money you will be ok, otherwise, if you need a job, I wouldn't reccomend it. Go visit for yourself & decide. Check out the link below. Look at rental prices, aslo apply for jobs if you need to & if you get one then you can go wth no worries. Goodluck!
