  1. i don't think many birth mothers would be in a situation to pay anything anyway.

  2. The average cost is hard to calculate when you consider the heartbreak and the cost of counseling.

  3. A good resource of adoptions laws and regs per state is

    http://www.findmybiologicalparents.com

  4. You just have to pay to adopt a child and that is a lot of money. You do not have to pay to put a baby up for an adoption.

  5. If you give up your child as a newborn and go through an adoption agency while you are still pregnant, there is no cost with most adoption agencies.   The adoptive parents pay for all of your medical bills and doctor's visits.  Pretty good deal for both parties :)

  6. The actual placement costs nothing as it is just some legal forms and the adoptive parents cover all such fees.

Other expenses can be paid, but this creates a feeling of obligation and should be discouraged, IMO.

  7. It most (if not all) states, it's illegal to charge birth families for costs relating to an adoption, and they cannot be prosecuted or billed for services rendered if they change their minds.  Although, as other posters pointed out, the emotional impact of making an adoption plan is immeasurable.

  8. A mother that is choosing an adoption plan does not have to pay anything... except pain and loss of her newborn.

  9. A scarlet letter.  Being called a crack w***e who couldn't keep their legs together.  Being told by the same people that not only you are selfless for giving your child such a wonderful gift, you are also selfish for leaving such a gift behind.  A lifetime of sorrow.  A lot of empty promises that can never be kept.

    Average cost: sorrow and woe.

  10. It doesn't cost anything for the birth family.

  11. i don't believe there is a cost to put a child up for adoption. which is probably why it is so expensive to adopt.

  12. nothing you should never have to pay anything allot of the time they will even cover your medical bills

  13. nothing.

  14. I thought it was for free....

  15. You usually don't have to pay anything if it's a newborn.

If you surrender your older child than you have to pay fees for foster care which vary by your income and state regulations.

  16. The adopting parents pay for the medical bills, delivery, doctor fees that sort of thing. The parents do not get any money for the adoption, and do not pay any fees for the adoption. If the child goes into the foster care system then the state has the right to charge the parents for child support until the parents rights are signed away. Either by giving custody to the state, or if the child is adopted.

  17. There are many programs that do it safely and for free.

  18. they dont pay you  you give it up no money comes to you why would you put a child up for adoption?

  19. Zero.  If you are a potential birth mother (or father), you will not be charged for the services of an agency or lawyer.  AND in many cases some of your expenses while pregnant will be covered, either by the adoptive parents or by a birth parent support fund kept by the agency.

  20. As I understand it, there are no costs to a biological family when creating an adoption plan for a child.

You indicated that you are doing research for a paper.  You may want to contact a local adoption agency in your area and explain the paper that you are writing.  They can be a huge resource for you and provide you with information that is correct and possibly additional insights about the adoption process.  Depending on the type of paper you are writing, it would be a benefit to learn the appropriate language when discussing adoptions and an agency can assist with that.  For example, birthparents do not "give up" children, they make an adoption plan for a child.  It is preferred to say a child "was" adopted, not a child "is" adopted.  An adoption agency would be able to help you to use the appropriate language and possibly get you a better grade on the paper.

    Good luck to you.

  21. There is no monetary "cost" to put your child up for adoption.  You must relinquish the child to social services.

  22. Actually if you are a surrogate mother, you could be paid for your baby if you and your child are healthy and drug free.  I would look at an adoption agency for such an answer to your problem if this is what you are looking for.  I am sorry if it is, but I realize life happens and it's not always good circumstances.  You want what is best for you and your child.  God bless you and I hope you find a happier life.

  23. nothing

    good luck with your paper!
