Do you pay a certain fee, and then buy the contacts every month?

Also, is the cost of contact lenses cheaper then the cost of glasses?

  1. The cost of the contacts really depends on what kind of contact are you getting, like monthly, daily or fortnightly. The most expensive would be daily and the cheapest is monthly. For all details,  information and remedies about contacts check out http://use-contactlens.blogspot.com/

  2. My contacts cost $27 a box and there is 6 per box. They last 2 weeks and can most of the time go further. Glasses would most likely be cheaper than contacts because you only need one pair instead of keep buying contacts. Contacts are usually cheaper if you buy a whole year supply. The only problem with glasses is if your prescription changes you will have to get a new pair of glasses. With contacts you can bring back unopened boxes to your optician and get a refund.

  3. I pay about $100 for six month supply of monthly disposables.

  4. This is how mine works.

You don't have to pay a fee for the contacts alone but you do have to have a valid prescription to get contacts. In order to get a prescription  you have to get an exam and that usually costs money. Depending if you have insurance or not will tell you how much. I don't have insurance and I can tell you that my exams cost 70.00 and my contacts cost 35.00 a box. So, that would be 35.00 x 2 = 70.00 (one box per eye). A valid presciption is good for one year. You also need one of these to get a pair of glasses. So, depending on how many boxes of contacts you get, it would cost you 140.00 to get an exam and two boxes of contacts.

You get 6 contacts in each box so that would give you 6 pairs of contacts. If they are disposal they usually will last around 3 weeks. So, with two boxes you will get 18 weeks of use, roughly 4 months. There are twelve months in a year, so, for about 290.00 (including the exam) you can get contacts for a year.

You can buy the contacts whenever and how many ever you want, sometimes I will buy 8 boxes, sometimes I will only buy 2. One box lasts 4 months,  so you definitely don't have to purchase them monthly.

A decent pair of glasses usually cost around 300.00 (370.00 with exam) and last forever...or as long as you can make them last. I'm sure you can get a cheaper pair though. You do the math on that one :).
