  1. Your height is fine...it's weight that is the bigger concern.  Strength is needed to ride well.

You want to become a jockey, then start as an exercise rider, you'll learn alot and get a chance to meet trainers and owners, not to mention other jockeys.

    Good luck!

  2. 4' 11" is fine. Jockeys have to weigh between 110-116 at the most. Most jockeys weigh about 112 pounds, without the gear (saddles, etc.) With the gear they weigh about 115. If you are over 116, you will probably not get a specific mount.

  3. jockeys mostly weigh around116-120 now. did any of you see the randy romero special on tv. the racing stewarts are tring to raise the riding weights  so the jockeys can be healthier. to make weight most of the jockeys spend the day in the sweatbox.

  4. There is no height limit to being a jockey though most are  around 5'4 or shorter.  Maximum weight for a jockey is 112lbs.

  5. they can be any height as long as they're in weight. more jockeys are usually 5'5 and shorter. the weight should be atleast lower than 130. best weight would be around 116-120. most races have the jockeys as 124 or 126 and jockeys can be no more than 7 pounds over that weight. under that weight they have to wear weights on the saddle to make it even so its better to weigh around 124.

  6. My shortest jockey has been about 4'10" tall, and my tallest was 5'6". My lightest rider's weight was 106#'s, and my heaviest rider's weight was 120#'s.(weights were without tack, just the rider's actual weight) The heavy rider was a decent rider, but when I used him, I usually couldn't claim all my weight allowances, as he couldn't make them. Regardless of height and weight, they all had bum knees!
