shorter is better. i'm 6 foot and toured a sub one time. i was constantly hitting my head off of things. haha.

I don't think height matters.  My husband spent some time in submarines, and he was about 5'7" and there were people taller than him and shorter than him.  So it would probably be whatever is the average height of the general population.
