  1. Since I have been riding I have been in climates that are friendly to riding year round or mostly year round. I've noticed that most bikes on the secondhand market with mileage over 50k tend to be big touring bikes (Goldwings, Beemers, etc.). It's reasonable to expect at least 50k out of most other bikes - so long as they are correctly and regularly maintained.

Also, many bikes out there have well-known maintenance gotchas, like a cam chain that is only good for 20k miles or valves that MUST be adjusted every 3k... if an owner doesn't know about some quirk of their particular make / model and it doesn't get taken care of, you can expect significantly less life out of the engine and/or sudden failure at some point.

I start to get nervous on the secondhand market around 20-30k, although I'd be far more nervous buying an '80 with 3000 miles or something.

  2. ninja 250r  one summer if that

  3. Too many factors go into that like

    1. Was maintenance done at regular intervals

    2. Was the bike raced on a regular basis

    3. Did the bike sit for long periods of time without moving

It is not uncommon for well maintained motorcycles to reach 150,000 miles

  4. too many factors to list.

mainly maintenance , rider style and type of bike will play into it.

but if you don't beat the snot out of it and do the maintenance required when required it should last your life time.

  5. Which bike? Many Gold Wings have gone 250,000 miles. Mine currently has 100,000 and Im going to trade in shortly. I beleive it will make 200k np but value for trade begins to diminish at half way. Some bikes are lucky to make 50,000 or less, but these tend to be neglected etc.
