What is the average mile time for 8th graders? 9th graders?

It really depends. For girls, most likely in the 6 minute to low seven minute range. For boys, probably high 5 minute, low 6 minute. If not a track or cross country runner, probably in the 8s or the high 7s.

This is the average time for racers

Grade 8

Boys: 5:30

Girls: 6:30

Grade 9

Boys: 5:00

Girls: 6:00

Grade 10

Boys: 4:35

Girls: 5: 40

Grade 11, 12

Boys 4:10 to 4:20

Girls: 5:00 to 5:20

But if you are not racing, than the overall average is added by 30 seconde to all of those results.

In 9th grade it was under 7 minutes

My fastest was 6 minutes 11 seconds
