What is the average # of days you ask for before accepting or declining a job offer?

I dont know what the correct answer is, but in the past i've given 3 days cause they usually need to know asap.

Usually the employer will tell you how long you have to decide.  Not more than 3-4, as others are no doubt in line to be offered the job should you decline.  (retired IBM exec mgr)
