What is the average pay for a teen watching children?

My husband and I are going on a date on Saturday night. A young girl from my church has agreed to sit for my 2 children (ages 4 and 1) for about 3 hours. What do babysitters make these days?

I've babysat for many people and the usual amount I get paid is $5 an hour. Sometimes people pay more but generally that's the amount I expect to get paid.

I know SillyChilliChillin15 said to increase the price if the children are younger but I can't see the children's age making a difference because many times the older ones can be harder to handle than the younger ones.

Anyway, $5 an hour is reasonable pay. If you want to increase it as time goes on, that's fine. I babysat for a certain family for a number of years when I was a teenager and that's all they paid me every hour. I was young and satisfied. It's not an actual job that they applied for so you don't need to pay them the same amount or more than a real job. Just use your better judgment on what you think is best.

I make $10 an hour watching an 11 yr old, 9 yr old, and 8 yr old.

But since your children are younger, pay her 15-20 dollars.

It depends where you live. If you live in an upscale community, don't pay less than $10/hour. Otherwise, you might get away with paying less. If she drove or if you had more kids, the price would be higher. Also, round up at the end of the evening - if the total is $18, pay $20.
