Base pay is not that great, but its better compare to other retail stores in the mall because selling fine jewelry requires a better knowledge of products, etc. Commission range anywhere from 1 percent to up to 20 percent depending on your position and most of the time you only make commission after you've reached your "sales quota", which is where the big catch is. The jewelry industry isn't doing so well these days so if you're looking to make most of your money in commissions, research the company first (if it's a public company it should be readily available online) to see how well they are doing.
