Depends on your location. Expect to pay between $15-$25 per hour for a decent painter, gotta pay more for a good one though...

your painter should be bidding on the amount of square footage not by the hour I get $.25 a wall sq ft per coat for labor and a few cents more for ceilings labor filling of nail hole are included but not the larger holes

I would find somebody who bids by the job not the hour. They can be there for two weeks for a job that should only take a week.....Handy men usually charge by the hour and they do not do that great of a job....

The average painter is no good. If you really want a good painter hire a union trained painter The rate is 50bucks per hour

i would think a good painter would get paid   25 -45 an hour ,and as for the union trained  painter, give the real world a break . union scam is all that is , Go for a private contractor and you will get an honest days work for an honest days wage .you will be fleeced by the unions .
