  1. Hi,

I am an SLP in Ma. in public school.  Our assistants are paid on the same scale as all of the paraprofessionals in the District;, about 8.50 per hour.   Most work part time, so there are no benefits.

Hope this doesn't discourage you too much!

  2. Contact the MA Speech-Langugage and Hearing Association or the American Speech and Hearing Association.  ASHA has done several salary studies for SLPs but I'm not sure if there have been any for SLPAs.  Advance Magazine for SLPs has also conducted salary studies.  Their magazine is free.  You can check it out at http://speech-language-pathology-audiolo...  They have nationwide ads for SLP and SLPA positions.  I am and SLP in Texas.  The average SLP in the school system makes 50-65,000 pending on which area of Texas you are.  School SLPs are paid on the same salary as school psychologists, nurses, and diagnosticians.  Most SLPAs are paid on a teacher's salary.  The average teacher's salary is about 35,000 in Texas.

    Good luck to you.

    M.A. CCC-SLP
