  1. On average they make around 350,000 a year. I want to become a small animal vet also! Here is your answer to your 2nd question http://www.vet.purdue.edu/vettech/vt.htm...

    Hope this helps!!!!

  2. Well it does matter where you live but it also depends how long you've been practicing, if you own your own practice, if you are in a rural or urban area, if you have partners, and if you are specialist.  It also matter how much you have to pay back in student loans, financing on your clinic, and the cost of your staff.  Pay varies so widely, it's really hard to generalize.

A registered vet tech is someone who has had about two years of schooling and passed a licensing exam.  They make far less than vets but far more than unregistered techs, who are often paid close to minimum wage but often have no training other than on-the-job and cannot perform certain procedures that registered ones can.

  3. It depends (it does), not on where you live, but whether you have your own practice.  Realistically, first, you'll work for someone else who has a practice.  You'll make about $80-90K/year.  After a few years, and if you scrimped and saved, you'll be able to open your own practice, probably in a small strip mall and paying huge rent.  The other option is to find a rural community and buy the land and build your own clinic.  But on your own, you'll make closer to $200-300K.  If you are a specialist, which means more schooling, you'll make more.

Vet technician vs vet technologist vs DVM vet, see here:
