  1. I have to say, I disagree with the person who said to multiply by 4 & add 25k - $125k for someone with an MSc and 2 years experience is a smidgen optimistic I think.

I have a relative who recently moved over here - doesn't have any degree-level qualifications in Engineering but has 12+ years of experience (and was head-hunted by an Aussie company from his position in the UK) and his pay is $110k... and is the highest paid senior engineer in his company. Obviously, if he goes up the levels towards Associate Director, etc, then it will increase but we're talking about people who have a LOT more than 2 years experience.

As to the OP - check out websites like seek.com.au to get an idea of the salaries on offer. I would hazard a guess around the $65-80k mark, like one of your other answers.

Also, housing isn't necessarily cheaper than other countries - it all depends on where you live. If you live close to the city, then you pay a LOT more than if you're out in the sticks... however you have the benefit of having a tiny commute, so it's all up to what you prioritise really.

  2. that may be just about what you are getting, multiplied by four, and add  25%, plus, so if you are earning about £25,000, then x 4 = 100,000

+ 25% = $125,00 dollars Australian, plus better tax allowances for equipment and tools, do not forget that housing is a 1/2 of the cost of England, and remember that the $A is worth the same amount when you spend it in shops as the £UK, is, over in England, ....

  3. Hi there,

you can expect to get around 65-80K for your level of experience.
