  1. About 0.85 mach

  2. Average is 385KIAS, 450mph is what we use to plan Dc9, da20, lear jets, and ciations at work. This average speed is usually a little lower than actual cruising speed, but will make up for the slowing of the aircraft for descents and landing, so the time will be pretty close for the actual flight time.

  3. What is a normal Jet plane.? Do you mean a Military Fighter, or a commercial air liner. What type of aircraft and what does it do.

You need to be more definitive in your question. Military Jets can exceed 1000klm/h for fighters to about 800 klm/h for frieghters and even slower for maritime patrols.  Commercial aircraft also vary depending on the type of work the aircraft is designed for.

    Concord flew at over 1000klm/h

  4. It is about 420 to 580 mph/ 680-900 km/h . It also depends on the atmospheric conditions. In other words its around 8-8.5 mach, 500-600 knots.

  5. About 600mph -- ground speed. The Mach number our friend gave above is off by a decimal point -- it should be between 0.8 -0.85 Mach.

  6. passenger jet, about 0.81-0.86mach

  7. By definition the average speed includes time and descent, so it is the flight length divided by block time (gate to gate).

500 miles per hour block time is a pretty good approximation for longer flights; airplanes seem to need about 2 hours per thousand miles.

The shorter the flight, the less the average time.  A 200 mile trip in a jet, gate to gate, can take 40 minutes.... that is only 300 mph average.

  8. If you want history about jet and how they work it says everything that you need to know.
