  1. I don't ride a recumbent bicycle.

  2. I've never ridden one, but I have seen a few in club rides, etc.  Usually they seem to be going a bit slower than everyone else, but there have been times when I see them keeping up with a larger group of regular road bikes, and the cyclist didn't seem to be straining too much to keep up.  I would guess somewhere around 18-22 mph...around 29-35 kph.  Maybe slower for some, and faster for others.

  3. I ride  a recumbent.

You will get about the same AVERAGE speed as the same rider would on a similarly priced road bike.  'Bents are Faster on the flats, slower on the hills, better in head winds.

Except when you get up to the $3K  Recumbents, they can be really fast, so fast they are not allowed to race against normal uprights-- it is too much of an advantage.
