So, I'm 14 years old. I'm going to be a Freshman this coming September, and I'm a baseball player. I mostly play pitcher and center field. I throw well into the 70's range. Probably 75+ on good day's, maybe topping 78 or, so. I played in the state tournament and did pretty well. There was a few guy's in that tournament throwing harder than me, but the guy's were 6 feet and over. At my height 5'8 is it above average throwing that hard?

  1. throwing seveny plus as a 14 year old is above average to good. the little league world series was just on and those kids were 13-14??? they were throwing 70+ and that one kid who was tall and good was throwing 79 equivalant to 103MPH at 60'6" and the taller you are...the faster you can develop your arm because of leg strenth and are length. your average speed is good.

  2. Don't try throwing hard every pitch. That's how you mess up your arm. You should really try and just stay in the high 60's for the year and let your throwing arm mature a bit

  3. yea for 14 to be able to top out at 78 i'd say is slightly better than average, and for 5'8 it's really good. i don't think you'll see the high 80's tho bro

  4. 65 is pretty good for a fourteen your old. 70 is fantastic. If you can do better, thats awesome. I myself throw high sixties-low seventie's. Good luck dominating!

  5. Don't be too good. They will throw you out, disband your team, kill your coach, and never let you play ball ever again.

  6. good for you, I threw 82 by then tho....

  7. 65

  8. 65 to 70 mph

  9. It's not how fast you throw but the movement and location of the ball. Anybody can hit a fastball down the middle of the plate. Work on curves, sliders, sinkers and change up. Anyone can be a hard thrower. Concentrate on being a pitcher
