What is the average time frame and cost of an international adoption?

I'm interested in adopting a baby girl from China. Where do I begin? How do I make sure the agency is legitimate? What should I expect the cost to be, and how long does it typically take?

My parents adopted 2 little girls from China, 1 is 6 now the other is about to be 3. They are both so amazing!  I'm 29 so there is a big age gap between me and my new lil sister but I love spending time with them, and they are both soooo smart.  Anyhow it cost around $20,000-$25000 and took my parents about 2 years, BUT they are 45 and 55 yrs old so the younger you are the faster it goes, it could take ya 6 months if you get on the ball now.  Check with you job , some companies offer help with adoption fees. From what i know, the waiting time for china baby after the submission of the report by the agency is about 1yr - 15mths. And the child is roughly about 1yr old. Only female baby is up for adoption in china.

To make sure the agency is legitimate, check with your country authority, they will give you an accredited agency as china now is very strict in giving up their citizens for adoption.

Cost varies..... in asia, we are talking about 12k USD for the completion of the procedure.

We have to answers questions and home visit to make sure you are ready for adoption. Then wait till china side gives approval and match a child for you After you get the photos and medical report, you will fly down to china to further make legal documents. Back home, still have to send documents to the goverment to approve on her citizenship and birthcert....
