What is the average time it takes for a regular stamped letter sent USPS cross country to arrive?

i've sent an important letter from Austin, Tx to Milwaukee, WI that needs to arrive by monday (it was just picked up 5:30 pm thurs. 8/28). I proscratinated in sending the letter, of course. am i doomed?
