  1. Most children that put up for adoption are put into foster care and are never actually adopted. Some are adopted, some get lucky and their foster parents don't return them to the system, some bounce around their whole lives from home to home.

  2. I went into foster care at age 7, was available for adoption at age 8 and am still waiting to be adopted......

Babies not long.  They get adopted pretty quickly, as soon as parental rights are terminated (most states a miniumum wait of 15 months unless there was severe abuse or complete abandonment, then it could be quicker)

Kids older than 5 .....probably not going to be adopted.

It is sad that a 5 year-old is TOO OLD for a family.

  3. It really depends on whether they are considered 'legal to adopt' or not. Many kids stay in the foster care system for a long time because there is so much red tape in the parents loosing complete custody of their child. Even getting a court date takes forever...

I recently read a story about a young girl who was a good age to be adopted, but by the time she was legal to be adopted, 5 years had gone by and she had been moved between several foster homes in that time period, and she never ended up being adopted.

  4. healthy babies dont wait long

the waits get longer the older they are.. even 1 year olds  have much longer waits..

    its sad really

society doesnt value life once it is over 1 year of age...'

    same for cats and dogs..

if you are not a kitten or puppy - nobody wants you
