  1. Pretty bad, I'm afraid. Top schools pay no more than 12 reals an hour...you do the math. Don't expect to make more than U$ 1000 a month, and that would be if you were really lucky and worked 40 hours a week...

  2. Yu would prefer to teach private lessons, for those it is possible to charge R$ 40,00 an hour.

  3. Most people take up English teaching as a supplementary income. To live on it would be difficult. At a language school they would pay you about six dollars an hour. If you give private lessons you might earn ten or fifteen an hour. The big cities in Brazil are full of English teachers - good, medium and bad. Its not easy to get a job. If you really want to work in Brazil you would be better off looking for some other type of job which would give you a better income. Sorry to be so discouraging but its better you know the reality before you get here.

  4. There are very very few schools that really pay you +- what would be a reasonable salary. The best solution in this case is to work as a teacher for enterprises and to teach executives (which is what many badly paid language teacher do apart from their job at a regular school).

However, still, this is definitely not the best career option in Brazil.
