  1. I would say average age would be 18 if they are going to college or the militery. It may be a little younger like 17 or 16 for runaways or for someone that was kicked out of their parent's house, but yea I think 18 is average.

And if you have seen the cost of room and board, tution, meals, and books that you would have to pay for at the average college if you lived in a dorm, you would learn quite quickly it is far from being bad or embarassing. I'm 21 and still live at home for those very reasons. College tution is sky high and room and board is ridiculous. I go to college online and thankfully I picked the right school that includes books in the tution for my classes and ship them out to me each term. I'm more than a little lucky about that. But I think if you wish to continue living at home when you go to college then I think you might want to talk to them about modifying their rules as you will be an adult but you will still have to apply to them, if they are ok with you staying with them and going to school. I think they may even be a bit more appreciative if you suggested anyways that you could contribute to the household as an adult, like buying grocercies from time to time, doing the laundry, stuff like that.

P.S. It's never a bad thing to live at home if you can't afford the alternatives, after all look at it this way, ever since the recession has started it has been reported on the news as of late that more adult children are coming back home anyway. And most of them are in their mid to late 20's or even early 30's. So if you are home already, no need to return and feel ashamed about it. ;)

  2. NO, it's not. it all depends on how you feel, do you have a good reason why you wanna move out? and can you afford moving out and finding your own place? if yes then i guess you can move out, don't move out only to add more expenses to your parents, like having them pay for your rent or buying you groceries. think about it... once you have a job and can be able to live alone you can move out.

  3. the avg age is between 18 to 22..
