Not sure what a realistic and fair rate for this situation is. 2 year old boy kept in babysitter's home for 10 hours 5 days a week. He would be dropped off and picked up by the parents. The parents would provide food, juice, and diapers/training pants. The babysitter has a daughter aged 17 months, is 25 years old, and graduated college. She used to be a english teacher. Both his parents work. As far as I can tell, people suggest anywhere between $2-10 an hour. What is a realistic amount for northern florida?

  1. I live in the Louisville area and pay my sitter who comes to my house 10 an hour (approx 240-320 per week)  for my 2yr old. I also lived in South FL (WPB area) and paid 15 for my in home sitter (she was also a CNA) for  my son when he was a newborn up till 9 mo. (that's when we moved to KY) However- I have friends in WI that pay their sitter 3.50  an hour for 2 kids age 3 and 4. It depends on where you live- and the salary of the people you work for. Everyone in my neighborhood pays about the same- 10 an hour for part time sitting. Call area daycares for rates- and charge a bit less to keep your income!

  2. i don't live in florida but daycare can be very expensive. 2$ an hour someone actually said that. I wouldn't even pay my babysitter that little. since the baby will be in the sitter's care everyday I would come up with a set price that way there is no confusion. maybe like $200 for the week. they will be paying more if the baby was in daycare so consider that a discount.

  3. Most daycares are $25 a day, so $100 a vveek.

  4. In Illinois, we pay $150/week for full time care (which is what you are talking about).  I've also seen $125/week.

Edit: You say the parents provided the food?  So I would drop my price to $100-$125 a week.

  5. You should pay her atleast 150-200 a week. thats only fair.
