  1. The only difference between the two indices (the Sensex and Nifty) is that the Nifty comprises of 50 companies and hence is more broad-based than the Sensex.

  2. Sensex is the index of th Bombay stock exchange (BSE) and Nifty is the index of National stock exchange(NSE).

    Stocks can be listed in both these exchanges. Other than this, stocks can be listed in other exchanges also that are in india.

  3. sensex could be construd as sensitive index and nifty as

    national fifty.... sensex is the index of BSE while NIFTY

    is the index of NSE....sensex consists of the 30 largest

    and most actively traded stocks, representative of various

    sectors, on the Bombay Stock Exchange. These companies

    account for around one-fifth of the market capitalization

    of the BSE.

    whereas nifty consists of 50 stocks

  4. Sensex and Nifty differ on the shares of companies used in constructing the index. It also differs on the ownership. Sensex is owned by BSE. NIFTY is owned by NSE..

  5. The basic and main difference is the two indices belong to two different exchanges and each computes the index in its own way.While the nifty is more broad based,the sensex represents the index of more actively traded entities.The volume of trade in the BSE is much

    more than that of the NSE.

  6. Average of NSE exchange is NIfty and For BSE is Sensex....Both are Index of both Exchange. NIFTY include 50stock average and sensex 30

    You can trade both index...

    full form of nifty :- Fifty stocks index....

  7. Sensex--> BSE--> 30 Stocks.

    Nifty--> NSE--> 50 Stocks.

    Thanks.
